Making my House a Home

November 22, 2013 § 1 Comment

The holidays are upon us. It is truly one of my favorite times of the year. I think what I love most about this time of the year is the get togethers. Though year round I love get togethers there just seem to be so many more with the holidays.

For the holidays this year, Patrick and I will be in LA the whole time. I am actually kind of excited as we get to attend a lot of fun gatherings and host my in-laws for a week. I’m sure you are asking, “What does this have to do with making a house a home?” This has everything to do with making a house a home because I cook/bake goodies for most events/parties we attend. I like to give people the since of home when I bring my baked goods to their home. I also want people to feel at home when they come to my place. I think it is vitally important to everyone to have a sense of home. A place you can go where no one judges, you can feel at ease and you can feel the love that fills that home.

My childhood had those moments where I felt at home. There were also moments where home didn’t feel like home. I never want to feel that way again and I don’t want anyone in my life to feel like home isn’t home. I guess that’s why I enjoy being a hostess and having people over for random game nights or just to hangout in general. I seriously can’t wait for the day when I have a huge kitchen/living room to host large parties. Until then, I will continue to open my home for those who need/want it.

Also, for those who enjoy my instagram pics and Facebook posts about my chocolate espresso cupcakes with mocha buttercream icing here are the links for those recipes:

*Chocolate Espresso Cake*:

*Note* I make cupcakes most often with this recipe and it makes about 28 cupcakes. Also, it makes a great 13″x 9″ cake. There is also an icing recipe with this. I have never made it with the icing listed. Try it and let me know how it goes!

§ One Response to Making my House a Home

  • When my mom passed away five years ago, I inherited my childhood home and after a messy divorce, I moved back into it. I was totally depressed and didn’t remodel/hand up pictures/ was a house, but no longer a home. It took meeting my future husband to pull me out of the funk. We are now married and living in my house ( now our house) are up, the place is decorated. It feels warm and inviting. I think a home, rather than a house, is about a state of mind and the people who create it.
