They say each year gets sweet and I couldn’t agree more. I have a hard time believing Patrick and I have been together for over six years and that today (May 23) is our fifth wedding anniversary. I feel lucky to have found such a guy as my handsome husband. There are a lot of funny things about our relationship. Like many couples we started out as friends. I always liked Patrick from the moment I first saw him. I had to grow on Patrick. Apparently, I was a little sassy for his liking; Patrick overcame my sassiness and we both fell head over heels in love.
I really don’t want to imagine my life without him because we have it really good right now. Please, don’t mistake what I am saying. Our life is not perfect by any means. Yes, we still get in arguments mostly over silly things and we haven’t achieved every dream we have had for our married life. We are still young and have time to achieve goals together. What I am saying is that I love my husband and no matter what trial we face I’m glad we love and support each other. I have also realized over the last month how much more I love Patrick than I did on the day I met him and even on the day we got married. Living together and stepping out of our comfort zone I have learned to love and appreciate him in new ways.
Five years under our belts. What have we accomplished? Quite a bit actually.
- Both of graduated from college. Patrick in 2010 and me just a year later in 2011.
- Moved to California to pursue career goals.
- Made it mostly on our own with some help here and there.
- Bought our first piece of furniture together.
- Haven’t given up on our marriage.
Yes, we still have some things we would like to accomplish in our next thousand years together, like visiting all the Disney Parks around the world and becoming parents. Right now, I just want to relax and enjoy the goals we have already achieved and be content with where we are in our life and marriage. Timing is everything and I know what we are still striving for will come in due time. Until then, John Patrick Southern, I love you with all my heart and I’m glad to have you in my life! Happy fifth anniversary my love! Here’s to a thousand more!
